LIBERABIT

Who Said This?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

Was it Ronald Reagan? George H.W. Bush? Senator Gramm? Bill Kristol?

Well, no. It was Cicero and was penned in 63 BC in Rome. Rome's demise can be directly linked to its welfare state, bloated bureaucracy, high taxes, high foreign aid, and lack of religious character. Oh, and lets not forget its morality or lack thereof. Homosexuality was rampant, promiscuity was out of control, and morality was scoffed at.

Remind you of any country you know?
